A Little of this and A Little of that

This week was a very long week, I had a tough closing but it closed on Friday so the weekend was time to celebrate. On Saturday Brad finally talked his BF John into going fishing with him in the boat.  They had a great time and John caught his first bass EVER.  Brad caught two decent sized fish, so all in all it was a good time. See pictures below from the fishing outing.

I decided to treat myself for my hard work and got a message, manicure and pedicure.  I have been looking every where for a cute pair of winter boots so I went to Nordstrom Rack to see what they had.  While there they were having a drawing for a $250 FREE shopping shoe spree.  I entered and five minutes later over the intercom they said..." the winner is ALISHA SILL" !!!  I was so excited.  The only catch was I had to pick out all the shoes right then and there.  This was a little hard since I was all by myself and had no one to help.  O'well I came out with 6 pairs of really nice shoes.  I got two pairs of boots, 1 pair of navy heals, 1 pair of flats and 2 pairs of my favorite designer Nine West.  It was so funny people kept coming up to me and were telling me how lucky I was and how jealous they were.  I was thrilled!!!!  If you know me you know since age 1 I have been addicted to shoes and clothes.  So this win to me was like heaven on earth :)

Saturday night Brad and I went to our new favorite restaurant Tahona on Pearl Street for drinks and dinner.  I even had Pumpkin Pie infused tequila, it was strong but good.  Brad and I enjoyed a low key Sunday shopping at the Loveland out door mall.  It was nice that the Bronco's had a bye-week and we didn't have to worry about them playing awful and being the laughing stock of the NFL.  We stopped by our favorite BBQ restaurant in Loveland called Serious Texas BBQ.  For those of you who know Texas it is a lot like Rudy's.  They have great food that is very inexpensive.  See the link and I would highly recommend it, they have even been featured in Sunset Magazine.  http://www.serioustexasbbq.com/

Now it is time to get the usual Sunday chores done before Monday.  This week is supposed to be very cold so I have to get my winter clothes officially out, BOO!!!  Have a great week.

Halloween

What a fun filled weekend for Halloween.  It started with happy hour at a new restaurant that I have been wanting to try for a long time, Tahona.  Michelle and I met up to grab a drink and appetizer before meeting up with Brad for dinner.  The happy hour was great with lots to choose from and amazing food.  We will defiantly be going back and it is on my list for best restaurants, I was very impressed.  It was so fun to get out with a best friend and just chat and forget about life, what a treat!!!  We later met up with Brad did some site seeing and people watching before dinner.  We went to SALT, it is the new "it" restaurant on Pearl Street.  There food is very good and they use ingredients from local farms in the area.  They even have a salt dish on the table with salt from Greece and the Middle East.  Michelle and I shared a beet salad, squash salad and pasta.  Brad had the New York strip steak, it was all simply amazing.   See below for a link to both Restaurants...

Saturday we bummed around Boulder and ran some errands.  We also meet up with my mom for lunch and shopping at 29th Street mall.  Brad had a soar throat so we headed home early and called it a night.

Halloween was a ghoulish time with lots of fun.  We started the day out with a Bronco loss which was no surprise with the way they have been playing football.  When ever they suck I revert to calling them "the donkeys".  This year it seems like all the football teams are a lost cause.  Anyways now on to the fun.  We booked a tour with Banjo Billy's in Boulder with John and Maggie, it was a ghost tour.  I read online to get there early to snag the  "saddle" seat.  We were the first one's to board and sure enough I rode on the saddle the whole tour.  My legs and butt were a little soar afterward but I DID IT!!!  It was a great time with lots of spooky ghost stories.  It was fun to drive around Pearl Street and see all of the costumes and hear lots of fun stories.  The tour was great and I highly recommend it for a fun Boulder activity. The horn was great on the bus with three different options... A dogs bark, I horses nah, and a woo, woo, when ever anyone waved we would yell YEEHA!!  It was lots of fun, all four of us had a great time.  Afterward we headed to West End Tavern to have some of their famous wings before calling it a night.  I have been shocked all weekend the the beautiful weather we have had for October!!!  When I grew up trick-or-treating it never failed we always had to wear our coats because of the cold weather.  Not this year it was absolutely gorgeous.  I hope everyone  had a great fun filled weekend, we did!!!

Flavors of Fall-Pumpkin

I have a confession to make...  I am obsessed with pumpkin and pumpkin flavors.  Today was an all time low for me when I went to 2 different places just to get my pumpkin fix.  This has become a daily run for me and I start to get grouchy if I don't have my pumpkin fix.  Here is what I have been obsessing over.
Mini Pumpkins Desktop Wallpaper
1. Einstein Brothers: They have a new "fall" pumpkin beagle.  As if this isn't good enough they also have pumpkin smear to go on top.  Let me tell you this is so good.  I have already gone there a least 8 times in 2 weeks and was dreaming about it when we were in Mexico.  Yesterday the lady said to me " You know you could just buy a dozen and freeze them, it will save you money."  Wow that is when you know you crossed the line when the employees are telling you how to save money.  To my great joy she also told me that the pumpkin bagel will be there until Thanksgiving.  Great news I don't have to go everyday now just every other!!

2. Jamba Juice: I have always been a fan of the drinks here but when I saw the promotion for the "Pumpkin Smash" I could hardly hold in the excitement.  IT IS BY FAR THE BEST DRINK EVER!!  It tastes like a pumpkin pie in drink form.  Today as I made my run the guy making my drink turned to me and said you are our best costumer for the "pumpkin smash".  Once again I don't think it is good to be recognized when you are getting your fill of pumpkin.  However after talking to him about how much I loved in and couldn't get enough he gave me a free drink coupon, SCORE, that means another pumpkin shake.

Jamba Pumpkin Smash
YUM, YUM!!

3. Pumpkin Butter: this is a cheap easy treat you can buy at the store to put on like jams.  I use it on toast in the morning, to put on yogurt and even ice cream.  I have already gone through 1.5 jars and still going strong.

4. Pumpkin Seeds: Each year the best part about carving the pumpkins is the seeds.  I will roast them up with different flavors.  Some how the all disappear in a few days.  Hmm.. wonder who eats them all :)

Brad thinks I have officially gone off the deep end.  O'well I look forward to my pumpkin fix each year and I can't let myself down!! At lease it is a semi-healthy option right?  If you have any pumpkin ideas or recipe's I would love to see them.  After Thanksgiving will be a smooth transition into my PEPPERMINT FIX, if I have said it before I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!

Fall Time at the Pumpkin Patch

Well what can I say I took a blog hiatus.  Well I AM BACK, I am ready to start blogging again.  With all the crazy things in our life it is a way for all of you to know what we are up to.  I promise this time to keep up and keep the blog updated at least weekly.  There will be lots to come with lots of traveling this summer and other activities.  I really enjoying reading everyone else's blogs  and I hope you all enjoy ours.  Happy Blogging!!!

This weekend was the usual craziness that we are used to.  It started with the CU game on Saturday.  We meet up with some friends at The Dark Horse in Boulder to enjoy drinks and burgers before the game.  It is always fun to hang out with friends and tail gate before the games.  Lets get real sometimes this is the only fun had because CU is not doing very well.  They are so wishy/washy you never know what you are going to get.  So lately instead of focusing on the CU game its self we are trying to focus on the time we have with friends before and after.  CU had and awful game and lost to Texas Tech. which they should have one against.  O'well we meet back up with our friends afterwards to have a drink before calling it a night.  I think even Ralphie the CU buffalo mascot is pissed about their losing streak as seemed to be running slower then normal.  We have found when you purchase season tickets you need to make the best out of them.
Ralphie Running before the game

On our walk to the stadium

Today we decided to be productive and try not to have our whole day revolve around the Bronco's game.  Don't even get me started on their season.  We thought CU was bad, well Bronco's have brought it to a whole to level!!  We decided what better timing then to pack up the "kids" and go to the pumpkin patch.  After fighting through the crowd we finally arrived a a good spot to start the search. This was the dogs second time to the pumpkin patch and they LOVED it.  Lucy likes to roll on the rotted pumpkins and Frankie likes to lick the pumpkins.  Between the two of them it is quite entertaining.  After walking, rolling and licking around we finally picked out 3 perfect pumpkins.  We then went to go see the cute farm animals.  They even had red colored baby pigs so my mom and I were in heaven.  We both love baby pigs and these were exceptionally cute.
Ever holiday I day dream in my mind the perfect set up for the decorations.  In years past I have always wanted to get corn stocks to decorate with.  Well this year it popped into my mind that I wanted a hay bail where I could set up the pumpkins, gourds and mums.  Long story short it is not easy to find hay so we are "borrowing" hay from our farmer neighbors :)  We will put it back when we are done.  Sad to see the weekend coming to an end, but it was great to enjoy the beautiful Colorado fall weather.
All of us at the Pumpkin Patch.

Bingo and Birthday Celebrations

I am writing this blog for late after Brad and I had such an extremely busy last two week. I will write again tomorrow for the last week. So anyways this is for the activities from the end of February and the beginning of March!!

March is finally here, I love this month being it is my birthday month. I like to think I get special attention the whole month. Sad to say that is not the case!! We have been very busy with celebrations and hanging out with friends, now if I can only figure out what to do for my birthday that will be great. I will keep you all posted.

We started off the last weekend with going to Bass Pro on Friday for Brad to get his long awaited real. Each year Bass Pro offers a reel trade in where you get a discount for turning in your old reel for charity. Brad has been researching for months and decided this year he was in need of a new spinning reel. We were there for over an hour talking to all of our sales associate friends. Brad decided on a Daiwa Bradia only sold in Japan but some how Bass Pro got a special shipment. Brad was thrilled as always to walk out of Bass Pro with a fishing purchase. Time is now officially ticking until we will be out on the lake every weekend with the new boat. Brad can't wait!!!

Saturday we volunteered with the puppy adoption event. Brad and I couldn't believe how cute the puppies where this week. There was a whole litter of Sher-pi puppies that were just down right adorable. We adopted most puppies out but not all. Brad and I decided to foster Daisy and Duke the two Sharpies that were not adopted. They were so much fun. See photos for their cuteness!!!

Saturday night Michelle came over for a fun night of Efrins and Bingo. Efrins was great especially after 2 margaritas each. We had a great time laughing and reminiscing about our trip we took to Mexico 6 years ago. After food and fun at
Efrins we headed to Bingo for a night of FUN!!! We arrived and decided to do two card each. This requires some level of concentration which can be hard after 2 margs. We were giggling when this 85 year old next to us started yelling to "Shut Up". Brad and I both got into it with an 85 year old, she was SO mean, I couldn't believe her attitude. After about 5 minutes of bickering back and forth she moved which made us all happy. Brad on the first bingo called out a fake Bingo, you should have heard the crowd they were so mad 2 people won. After laughing my head off and telling the announcer it was a fake Bingo all was well. Not less then 10 minutes later Brad starts to pull on my shirt and say "I think I have a Bingo" I was like this better not be a fake Bingo. After inspecting his card it was a real Bingo and he won $200!!! Brad being as obnoxious as he is sometimes, waived the winnings in grannies face, Michelle and I could not stop laughing. After a long night of Bingo Brad was as happy as punch.

Sunday we went to the Boulder Tea House. If you have never been the Tea House was brought in from Tajikistan and declared that Boulder was there sister city. The Tea House features gorgeous architecture as well as amazing teas and chai. See link for all the information about the tea house... http://www.boulderteahouse.com/ .
We celebrated Sharon's birthday. We all had an amazing time and Sharon was so surprised with the special cake Michelle ordered for her. It started to snow outside and was great to be in such a beautiful building with a snowy Colorado day.

All in all it was a great weekend and I am glad we can share it with you. Have a great week.

Valentines Day, Puppies, and Nuggets

This has been a very busy week and Brad and I can't believe we are almost through the month. We started out by celebrating Valentines Day by going to The Old Spaghetti Factory in Denver. This is one of Brad and I's favorite places to eat in Denver. Not only is it cheap but it includes everything. I love to get the combo of the mushroom sauce and the Mizethra. The Mizethra is a very rich creamy cheese, Brad says it stinks but I love it!! Dinner also includes salad, bread and spumoni ice cream, YUM!! If you haven't checked it out please see the following link http://www.osf.com. We finished up the evening by renting some movie and relaxing and home. Brad also got me a beautiful boquette of red roses and a very nice card.

Sunday Valentines Day we went over to Brad's Mom and Step Dad's house to celebrate Bob's birthday. We had an amazing dinner including sushi and oysters. I have found myself into this new oyster kick where I get them as much as possible and really enjoy them. Brad thinks they are gross and slimy but I think that are great. After spending time with his family Bob opened all of his gifts and had a great day. It was nice to get together and be able to celebrate.

For those of you that didn't know Brad and I are very involved with a puppy rescue out of Broomfield. We had taken a brake but just started to get back into it again and started helping out at the events. I received an email from the organizer Debbie on Monday asking if Brad and I could foster a 1.5 year old Dachshund/Golden Retriever Mix. I couldn't resist and after lots of begging on my end with Brad he said ok lets do it. We picked Mack up on Monday night and have really enjoyed him being around. He was abused so we have been working through social issues with him but he is really coming out of his shell. He went to his first adoption event on Saturday but didn't get adopted so we will have him for another week. He is such a good boy and goes to work with me and just sleeps on his bed under my desk all day. Frankie and Lucy really like him but Belle being the pug she is really could care less about him being in the house. We hope to find him a loving and caring family soon as he deserves the best. If you are interested in adopting or fostering with Pup Savers please click on the following link... www.pupsavers.org

On Sunday Brad and met up with John and Maggie to go to the Nuggets game. First let me back track by saying I thought it was easy to get Nuggets tickets, boy was a wrong. After looking everyday on Craigs list I was able to finally get 4 tickets together in the noise bleed section that weren't being scalped for like $100 each. We had to run to Denver on Saturday to pick them up but they were cheap ($47 per ticket) and all together. We left early due to all the snow we have had over the weekend as the game started at 1:30. We all decided to try a restaurant that was featured on Man Vs. Food. It is called The Cherry Cricket located in North Cherry Creek. WOW this was for sure the best hamburger that I have ever had. Brad and I also shared Green chili which was amazing. John being the foodie that he is ate his burger in less then 5 minutes, it makes me sick thinking about it. Maggie and I barley finished and were completely stuffed for the rest of the day. I would HIGHLY recommend trying the food and enjoying the atmosphere. (www.cherrycricket.com)
The game was great and the Nuggets sure put on a show. It was nice to have a sporting event to enjoy inside and not have to worry about the yucky snow outside. The Nuggets were ahead the whole game and pretty much dominated the Celtics. There were lots of Celtic fans in the audience so it was fun to see them get quit quick with the Nuggets kicking their butts. We all had a really good time and we hope to be able to go to some more games before their season is over.

I hope you all are having a great week, off to watch the AWESOME Olympics.

Brad and I are new to blogging, so please bare with us on our first couple of posts. January has been a fun month. We rolled in the new year with a week trip to Texas for Bass fishing. We were in San Antonio for the New Year with was an amazing place to celebrate. The weather was a little cold but we
had such a good time. The picture above is of a performer on the River Walk. Texas is Brad and I's favorite place to visit for many reasons including the weather and the great fishing. We went out with our favorite guides Keith Combs who is a professional with the FLW. He is a great guide and friend and we always have good day full of lots of fish. This trip was extra exciting as Brad caught a 14lb. catfish on a drop shot rig. He was lucky to get it in the boat. We always are sad to say buy to the water and the beautiful state of Texas.

Mid month Brad had in his mind all month that he was going to win a boat they were giving away at BassPro. We showed up 2 hours before the give away and hung out until they finally did the drawing. The of coarse were behind schedule and by the time they called the name it was 3 hours and counting in Bass Pro. Brad decided to go look at some other boat while by mom and I stayed near the table for the drawing. They came on the PA system and said the winner of the 2010 Jon Boat is BRAD SILL. My mom and I starting screaming which you could hear over the store intercom and Brad came running over with a red face and a big grin. We couldn't believe he actually won the boat. He got his picture with the Manager of Tracker Boats and signed all the paper work. We went out after wards to Jim N Nicks BBQ. This is a great BBQ place if you haven't tried. http://www.jimnnicks.com/ . After many long conversations and debates Brad decided the boat he won was not going to work for his fishing needs and he sold it on Craigs List and was able to buy a boat that would suit his needs better.

I will try to keep the blog updated on a weekly bases. Please drop us an email as we are happy and excited to be communicating with all of you via Blog.
